A custom pattern is a set of criteria which can be tested and stored, and then used as a criteria option in a custom screen or a custom strategy.
For example, you could create a pattern to represent a Bearish Engulfing candlestick formation. You could then create a custom screen which searched for that criteria in combination with any other criteria such as a moving average.
